What we did well, and what we need to improve on.

We learn something new in every game, or as a friend of mine used to say, "We RE-learn something old." Here I'll discuss our games and try to recap any lessons taught by the best teacher: experience. I'll also acknowledge especially good efforts also.

Notes from Game 1

Right into the Fire!
It certainly showed that we were a young and new team, both with the players and the coaches. This game got out of hand quickly but we never gave up. The walks killed us and well placed hits on the other teams part was the downfall. How about those speady twins huh! No matter what we did those girls were gonna run until they crossed homeplate. In the end we all learned a little bit about ourselves in that game. The

Notes from Game 2

Bunts, Bunts, and oh yeah...Bunts!
This game really frustrated me the most. We were dealt with a strategy that to this day confuses me. The other team decided to bunt almost every time they got up at the plate and as a result caused us to play out of our game plan. It made no sense to me to do that, but that was the way they played. Alot of walks also killed us but on the plus side we as coaches saw what defensive positions best suited the girls. We also came up with a solid lineup.

Our award goes to Samantha for two diving stops resulting in outs.

Notes from Game 3

Best game by far!!
Regardless of the 8-0 score, this game was what we as coaches were expecting from our team. Great plays in the field overshadowed our absent bats. The pitching by Juliana was superb and kept us close until the heat finally caught up to her and the oter team strung together a bunch of hits. Only 1 walk was given up by Jules. We see alot of potential in this young pitcher.

Our award goes to Jess Hayden for playing in for a bunt and getting a frozen rope line drive hit to her. It was certainly one of the plays of the day.

General Tips

It seems like this is my main motto...Know what your job is before the ball is pitched!

Always be prepared
No matter where a ball is hit, you should be moving somewhere. Even if the ball is not hit towards you, you should be moving to a position in case of an error or overthrow.
